Jaguars Lose Heartbreaker in Season Opener 19-16
September 1st, 2007The DCHS Jaguars opened their 2007 season in heartbreak fashion Friday night. The Bruce Trojans, pre-season ranked number five in Mississippi’s 2A classification, scored a 4th down touchdown in overtime to defeat the Jaguars 19-16. The Jaguars (0-1) scored first in overtime on a field goal by senior kicker, Wade Boyce. However, the Trojans answered by pushing ahead to the three yard line after overcoming a loss of yardage by a stingy Jaguar defense on first down. Second down picked up the lost yardage before the seven yard gainer on third down. On fourth down the Bruce offense went to the well one more time with their outstanding junior running back, Richard Freelon, who blasted into the endzone for the winning touchdown.
