Coach Chris Purnell - Head Coach

Coach Purnell begins his 7th season at Desoto Central. Prior to his stint here he coached defensive backs for one season at Starkville and 10 seasons at Horn Lake, where he served as Defensive Coordinator and coached running backs and defensive backs. He was also head coach at Horn Lake Middle School. Coach Purnell is a graduate of Greenwood High School, where he played defensive back and wide receiver and was an all-district performer for 2 seasons and also played baseball. He is also a graduate of Mississippi State University. In addition to his football job, Coach also donates his time as a summer baseball coach in Desoto County. Coach Purnell and his wife, Liz, have one son, Brett, and two dogs, Cowboy and Ollie.

My name is Richie Davenport and I work with Starkville High School Radio. Jim Ellis is not able to broadcast this weeks game and I will be stepping in for him. Whats goin on coach…its been a long time. you know how much i miss ya’ll…looks like this season was a pretty good one considering the facts. i was wondering if you had cherie littrell’s number or a way to reach her…i am getting some leave in december and really want to see her and josh…can’t believe its been 7 years since the “accident”…anyways hope all is well for you and your family…maybe i’ll see you when i’m home…
